There is a huge amount of great walking and trail running in the Peak District National Park. Simply buy yourself some maps (White Peak or Dark Peak via Aqua3 maps, 10% discount for visitors from this site, waterproof and standard paper OS maps) and make up your own walks/runs or buy one of the many good guides to walking in the Peak - see the 'booksales' section of this site or try tea shop walks or classic walks (in association with Amazon). The High Peak Trail - Cyclist and Walker Friendly

Traffic free cycling on the High Peak Trail

This is one of the two major trails that have been developed in the Derbyshire Peak District from dismantled railways, the other being the Tissington Trail. It is almost traffic free, at one point it crosses the busy Newhaven to Cromford road and there are several places wher it is crossed by farm traffic. Still, it is definitely much better than riding the increasingly busy Derbyshire roads.

Peak District Walking - Baslow Circuit via Gardom's Edge

An afternoon or evening walk taking in Gardom's Edge and Baslow Edge.

This is an excellent little circuit with the potential to make it into a longer walk. There are delightful woodland pathways and extensive views from the two edges of the Peak District above the village of Baslow.

A Walk in the White Peak Near Bakewell

Monsal Head, Taddington, Litton Mill and Cressbrook

This is a a moderately long circuit which takes in a Monsal Dale, Taddington, High Dale, Litton, Millers Dale, Cressbrook and back to Monsal Head. The walk is not far from Bakewell and takes in some excellent White Peak scenery.

A short stroll from Rowsley to Calton Lees taking in Calton Pastures.

This shortish walk from Rowsley takes you high above the the valley of the river Wye and drops you back down into the valley of the derwent from where you return to your starting point. The route can be a little muddy in places especially after rain so please make sure that you are wearing suitable footwear.

Hartington Short Walk (Biggin Dale, Wolfscote Dale)

A short walk in the White Peak from Hartington that takes in Biggin Dale, Wolfscote Dale and Beresford Dale.

The route in Isaac Walton country heads south from Hartington along Reynards Lane and a track which drops you steeply into Biggin Dale. The path follows this beautiful limestone valley southwards to meet the River Dove at Wolfscote Dale. A good path follows the Dove upstream, crosses a meadow at which point you find yourself in Beresford Dale. After a few hundred metres the river is left behind as you cross the fields back to Hartington.
