About the Peak District eastern region.

The region is dominated by the ‘Eastern Edges’ which rise high above the Derwent valley; Froggatt Edge, Curbar Edge, Baslow Edge, GardomsEdge and Birchen Edge. These Edges are crags of up to 100 feet high made from the rock called gritstone. It has been quarried extensively for making millstones. The walking in the east side of Peak Diartict is superb, as is the climbing and mountain biking. Renting a Peak District self catering cottage or apartment in this part of the area is a paradise for any fan of the great outdoors.

For the more sedentary tourists, ot those wishing to do mainly sightseeing, you have Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Bakewell, Rowsley, Carsington reservoir and Matlock Bath within easy reach of many of these cottages.
