The area is characterised by limestone valleys including the popular Dovedale with it’s stepping stones, cliffs and spires of rock. The main towns of the area are Ashbourne and Hartington with Leek, Macclesfield and Bollington close by. There is easy access north to Buxton from where it is easy to reach the eastern parts of the Park to see attractions such as Chatsworth house and Haddon Hall.
