How to contact ‘A Taste of the Peak District’. 

Situated close to the small town of Eckington in NE Derbyshire, Renishaw Hall offers the visitor walks, gardens, museums, galleries and events most weeks during the Summer.

Renishaw Hall has been the residence of the Sitwell family since the early part of the 17th century. The Hall itself is not open to the public (though visits can be arranged via the Estate Office) however the acres of gardens and woodlands are. You can delight in the original Italian style garden with its topiary, fountains, sculptures and over 1000 roses, including many rare and old varieties. Renishaw is also the site of the National Collection of Yuccas. Amongs the rarer species for which Renishaw is renowned are Cornus, Pocket Handkerchief tree, cornus and Nothofagus. In addition, the well-stocked borders contain delphinium, paeony, clematis (including a large collection of late flowering varieties ... the list could go on for a long time!  There is a delightful camelia walk and can you find the secret garden? The woodland is at possibly its best in the spring, with the new greens and carpets of bluebells. There are many tender plants here, including bananas, acacia and echiums plus lake side walks and the famed laburnum tunnel.

The Georgian stables have been converted into a cultural centre, celebrating the arts. There are some permanent exhibitions and some temporary. The stables are home to the Sitwell Museum about the famous literary Sitwells - Sacheverell, Edith and Osbert. There is a performing arts gallery, the John Piper gallery and the gallery cafe. The latter displays the artworks of local artists, many of the pictures are for sale. The Cafe also sells fine English and Continental cuisine.

Renishaw also produces its own wine, the vinyard, when first planted, was the most Northerly in the world.
