How to contact ‘A Taste of the Peak District’. 

Kedleston Hall is a National Trust property that is situated a few minutes drive north of Derby, a little south of the Peak District. If you are interested in stately homes, it is worth leaving the peak to view this one. It was designed by Robert Adams and building work started in 1759. It was completed six years later. The main block was designed for entertaining visitors rather than as a living space. There is a collection of paintings, sculpture and furniture together with a collection of Adams original drawings and the Eastern Museum. 18th century ladies did not like the Sun because it damaged their delicate complexions. In order that they could fish without this risk, a lakeside fishing room was built - why not see it for yourself?

The gardens of Kedleston Hall offer a peaceful sanctuary from stress. Simply relax in the pleasure grounds, rose garden or orangery. The Azaleas and Rhododendrons provide a fantastic display of colour in June. If you want some exercise, the 800 acre park with its sweeping pastures, woodland and lakes is for you. Guided walks are available on which you can learn about the wildlife of the park, the history of the house and park including how the village of Kedleston was moved so that the park could be created.
