The range of Peak District restaurants and other places to eat out such as pubs, bars and cafes is perhaps surprising, with the variety resembling the selection you might expect from a large city.
You can find almost all types of restaurant somewhere in the Peak District or surrounding areas, Indian, Thai, Italian, French, traditional English and pub grub! You will not be short of interesting eateries during your stay.
For light meals we particularly like the Woodlands Tea Room at Charlesworth for a friendly service and good food. We are rather partial to Indian food and enjoy the service and food at the Matlock Bath Balti.
We are not so keen on the Plough near Hathersage, they are welcoming if you look as if you may have a bit of cash. If you go in just for a drink they treat you like a leper and you have to sit in the entrance hall or outside. Needless to say, we stopped going but I guess that was what they wanted as they probably don’t like climbers as we tended not to wear a suit!
For good pub grub, the Little John does a decent menu in our opinion, and the Boat Inn at Cromford does too.
